Mrs. Clare E. Dawson (C Newby)

Clare is a Solicitor and Head of Conveyancing Department.  Clare came to Young and Co as a newly qualified solicitor some 30 years ago, after attending the College of Law at Chester and training for 2 years at a firm in Hanley.  Clare supervises all the work done in the Conveyancing Department.

Clare specialises in Conveyancing both Residential and Commercial, Property Law, Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney.  She made sure Young and Co were one of the very first members of The Law Society Quality Conveyancing Scheme.  Clare loves providing legal advice to families of clients over the generations, helping ensure that Young and Co remains a central part of the community.  Clare has worked in this area since she qualified and she has helped thousands of families and individuals.

Clare’s caseload is currently around 1/3rd standard Conveyancing Sales and Purchases, 1/3rd Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney (including many visits to clients in their own home, in care home and in residential homes) and also Wills made on an urgent basis.  The remaining 1/3rd of her workload being Commercial Conveyancing and complex Property Issues.  Clare particularly enjoys dealing with the difficulties arising from unregistered land.  Clare has previously carried a caseload of Probate and Court of Protection work and experience in all these related areas together help ensure that as well a giving specific advice the broad picture is also considered for the best interests of every client.  Clare’s enthusiasm has increased over the years for her work, she says no two days are ever the same and there is always something new to learn.
